Description

How can virtual production workflows be better integrated on film sets? And how can digital tools support communication and coordination during complex productions?

ProSys OSVP – Production Support Systems for On-Set Virtual Production addresses the growing complexity of virtual production environments in film and media production. As real-time technologies and virtual sets become increasingly common on set, efficient coordination between creative and technical teams becomes a central challenge.

The focus of ProSys OSVP lies in creating digital support systems that simplify production workflows during on-set virtual production. Real-time visualization, production data, and communication processes are brought together in order to improve collaboration across different departments working simultaneously within hybrid production environments.

By connecting physical filming with virtual content generation more seamlessly, the project aims to reduce technical overhead and support clearer coordination throughout production processes.

Project partners are LAVAlabs Moving Images, Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, and Hochschule Hamm-Lippstadt. ProSys OSVP was selected for funding within the NEXT.IN.NRW competition, which supports collaborative initiatives between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and research institutions. In the third submission round, completed in February 2025, ProSys was one of 31 projects chosen for funding.
